On Saturday 18 May 2019 I went to Thruxton Motorsport Centre as a guest of Olympus Cameras and Power Maxed Racing.

I had a great day photographing the racing, with the BTCC practice and qualifying, , Mini Se7en and Formula 4 practice, qualifying and races.

My thanks go to Olympus for the invitation and loan of the OMD E M1X camera, and PMR for the hospitality.

Here are a few images from the day.

What a fabulous morning. Went down to Brambridge for sunrise this morning. Saw deer, blackcap, chiff-chaff and many other flavours and varieties!!

I went for a leisurely stroll early this morning to check out the progress of the bluebells in Micheldever Woods. They are coming on but need a couple more weeks to be at their best.

Here’s a few edits from this morning.

Wheels for the World

Not a photographic subject (yet!) but just a record of activities yesterday at the Wheels for the World warehouse yesterday.

The team, having refurbished a shedload of wheelchairs over the past few months, we loaded 124 wheelchairs onto a container along with buggies adapted for rough terrain, Zimmer frames, crutches and other walking aids. The container has left the warehouse en-route to Uganda.

In June, I will be going with a team to refugee camps in Northern Uganda to supply wheelchairs and other aids to disabled South Sudanese refugees who have fled the civil war raging in their country.

Here are a few images from yesterday.

The purpose of the invitation was to try the new Olympus OM-D1X camera.

Here are just a few edits from the day.

Got up at stupid o’clock this morning for a lovely stroll from Twyford Church and along the Itchen Navigation at sunrise. Still getting to grips with the new Fujifilm kit.

Went to Beer this morning. Still very cloudy and grey, but took a few shots. Not very inspiring, but getting to grips with the new kit. The Fuji lenses are amazing!

The XT3 is a lot smaller than the Nikon kit, so with my big hands I keep pressing buttons I don’t want to press. But I am sure I will get used to it.

After an excellent full English at the Bay View Tearooms, I went to Otteron and walked along the River Otter to Budleigh Salterton. I was surprised and a little disappointed at the lack of wildlife. Still, got a few images on the way, and at the estuary.

Dartmoor

Staying at the Caravan site at Exeter Racecourse for a few days, so that I can get out and try out the new kit.

Today I have mostly been shooting the rapids! No, not riding them, photographing some of the rivers on Dartmoor.

The final two images involved a treacherous decent down a moss covered boulder strewn slope, and the gruelling climb back afterwards!

Spending the weekend away in the caravan at Wareham, Dorset.

I was on the Quay at Wareham before sunrise and made a couple of images. Then after breakfast I went to the RSPB reserve at Arne.
